Joelle Kayembe scoops Most stylish model : SA Style Awards 2014

So, the SA Style Awards 2014 where held last week and I was not surprised when it was announced that the Most stylish model : Joelle Kayembe. I have been seeing Joelle a lot lately from the events I go to and I have to say, she always looks on point. The most humblest model I know as I had a chat with her at the ERKE store launch this year and she gave so much advice through her experiences in the Fashion Industry. This post is merely to acknowledge her as a model, fashionista and a good person as you read through her background and her work within the model industry and some charity work.
Background information on Joelle Kayembe: Joelle Kayembe was born in Lubumbashi, Democratic Republic of Congo. When she was 11 years old, she moved with her family to South Africa where they have lived since. During her teenage years, Joelle developed a keen interest in art and fashion. Not only did this interest provide an excellent outlet for her but it would also prove to be a precursor to her professional modeling career, which started when she was discovered at the age of 19. She has since established herself amongst the most recognized and in demand models in South Africa. Career: Modeling Joelle is signed with Ice Models (Johannesburg and Cape Town) MGM (Hamburg and Paris) and Flash Models (Istanbul) Joelle is best know for her work as a fashion and swim wear model and also for her role as the lingerie model in the Sprite Zero TV Commercial. 2002-2014 Joelle s first modeling assignment was for Elle Magazine fashion editorial in 2002, which immediately boosted her bookings as a fashion model on runways, in print and advertisements. Following the success of her first campaign with Soviet Jeans, Joelle has since appeared as the face of Jenna Clifford, Sketches Footwear, Campari, Camay and American Swiss. On her catalogue résumé are appearances for Woolworths, Foschini, Honey Jewelry, Bon Prix, Hunkemoller, Bravissimo, Edgars and Truworths. Her print work résumé lists photo shoots for GQ, Fairlady, Instyle, Marie Claire, Cleo, O’Magazine, Destiny, Hype, Soul, Kicky Off and Shape. Joelle has also featured on the covers of Cosmopolitan, Sports Illustrated, Truelove and Glamour and her Wanted Magazine cover won the Elle 2008 visual fashion category award. She also made history by becoming the first black model to grace the cover of FHM in 2008. Joelle has since received considerable TV Commercial exposure and she has featured in adverts for Shield, Ponds, Camay, Nido, Axe and Virgin Money.
Acting, Agency: UBBA (Paris) Ice Genetics (Cape Town) In addition to her modeling career, Joelle has embarked on acting career, with her first featured role in the movie Zulu. Joelle plays Zina opposite Forest Whitaker’s character Ali, as his love interest. The movie also stars Orlando bloom and is directed by Jerome Salle.
Charity work, Joelle has always had a passion for charitable work and has since the age of 15 dedicated considerable time volunteering with numerous foundations both in South Africa and abroad. Since January 2012 Joelle has served as the Trace TV and Trace Foundation Ambassador.
