In 2001 Gerry Kelly ( founder of Sonas San Francisco) bought a pair of vintage patchwork jeans in San Francisco while he was preparing for the party of the year "The Burning Man" which fitted him so well that he decided to wear them every time he went to such events that would accept the look. As we all know, fairy-tales never last and later in his life the pants fell apart and he had to replace them. Without any luck of finding that perfect patchwork, he found himself a seamstress and decided to create his own. That year when he went to "the Burning Man" event with his new recreation of patchwork jeans, he did not expect anything but his new way of patchwork on denim became a hit and this is where it all started. As he just retired from a successful real estate business, he and his wife ( Christine) went to work and and came up with what is considered now in the fashion industry , the classic five pocket masterpiece. He decided to take his small business to the next level but failed at a fashion trade show in L.A. With the courage and help from his wife he decided to continue and after a writer from the show published a picture of the jean in the California Apparel News with just a heading "PATCH PANTS", he got a call from a well exposed L.A designer (Allan Chevalier)




and that was the beginning of the most trending, sexiest, fitted patchwork denim business there is. So, the SA Style Awards 2014 where held last week and I was not surprised when it was announced that the Most stylish model : Joelle Kayembe. I have been seeing Joelle a lot lately from the events I go to and I have to say, she always looks on point.
