ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

Image
The post you are about to read is to recognize the talent we have in Cape Town and the meaning of blogging. Two guys that I admire and have been following on twitter and on their blogs have made it to the semi-finalist for the Elle Style Reporter. They have been dedicated to their blogs and the amount of dedication they have is clearly visible on their blogs. My reason for starting Pose was not only for the love of fashion but also because of such people as Lawrance Dube and Trevor Stuurman. The capacity of intelligence and dertimination they have is beyond their love of fashion but more of sharing it with the rest of the world. I am truly honored to have met one of them and to have known such people. They are an inspiration to such like us, Newbies, and for giving us the confidence to do such. Let's give the, a round of applause and salute them to even bigger pictures.                    boyinpr .blogspot.com/

HAIL TO MATURITY

Image
Pringle of Scotland, what a collection! I was amused and could not help myself but smile when I watched Pringle’s Spring 2012 R-T-W collection. The color tones they used, the fabric choice and of course the presentation. The show was pure clean, sophisticated and matured. Loving the prints they created, floral’s in patterns of a typical wedding invitation. Pastels colors were shown in belts, and patterns. The use of grey shades, cream, navy and green with metallic in the signature pattern got me all excited. I have to applaud them this time as I have not really been a fan but this collection was astonishing. They kept to the brand but embraced change with minor details that spoke while watching.

COLOUR BLOCKING AGAIN?

Image
I must say that I do not like the trend but it seems that it is staying for this Spring/Summer 2012, Colour Blocking. I still remember last year when a friend of mine told me that if he hears one more person talking about colour blocking again he will "klaap" them because it was overly exposed too much. The reason that I don't like the trend is not that it cant work, its how people dressed it. I was embarrased for the pop culture as this trend was a humongous success in the 1970's through to the 1990's. Well enough about my thoughts, the trend is here to stay but with a little twist which is why i decided to blog about it. This season neon colours play a big role with colour blocking. Neon pink is the ladies favourite and guys go for neon lime. Also pastels are part of this seasons colourblocking, if you check previous post about pastels, you will see what i mean. I am loving designers such as Gucci, who know exactly how to colourblock.

I WANT FLOWERS

Image
Louis Vuitton Spring 2012             From headpieces to shoes , flowers will bloom. Louis Vuitton, Preen, and Dolce &Gabbana showed us exactly that for their Spring 2012 collections. From patterned flowers, to prints, we lusted with happiness and smiles on our faces. These collections brought back the love for creativity, colour and femininity. We adored Louis Vuitton and the use of lace, chiffon and silk cut out of flowers while Dolce & Gabbana gave us bold floral prints on their garments and shoes with pastel colouring on the models hair, and Preen gave us pastels in shapes, and stuffed flowers inside their garments. I have never been a fan of florals in clothing, trying to remember the era of high collared shirts with flowers all over and plain white cuffs for men and maxi, panelled dresses for women but after seeing these collections i fanned florals. The patterns were amusement to ones eyes, shading a happy em

FLAT WHAT???

Image
Introduced only last spring, slowly but surely flatforms became the new direction to flats. Flatforms are level platforms, your typical, at home or beach sandal but higher. When I first saw them, at our local retailer, foschini, I was shocked to an extent that the sales lady asked me if I would like to try them on, the way its shaped and thinking to myself," what on earth is going on here", a loafer with a platform, I could not resist. None-the-less I tried them on and while doing so, the thought was if I will be able to walk in these and ofcourse they should be heavy. Well to my disappointment they were the most comfortable loafers I have ever worn, I mean the flat loafer that are also trending now with bright colours or zebra/leapord print are very unease to ones toes. Trust me, I have one. This is when I decided to take out my blackberry and started researching as to when this drastic change started. It appears that dereke la

I WANT ME SOME TROPICAL!

Image
I had never thought that from this day and age will I ever love Tropical prints like when I was still a child. Haiwaian prints (best example) were big when I was growing up, from the 3 year old in the house to the mothers skirt and fathers shirt. Tropical prints have come and gone regularly but this season, this year, I have to applaud the worlds designers who have changed the feel and themed prints to something thats so versitile, edgy and chic. Every fashion lover has an eye to get atleast one piece with the print whether its a buttoned up cotton shirt, skinny trouser to fitted blazers and jumpsuits. I went on a search to find out what other fashion blogs that I follow say about this trend and this is what they had to say: "Less than tribal and far less than the usual trendy animal prints, a huge tropical print is still a rarity in New York for young women.I think there's room to change that while we still have weeks of summer sun to go. BOY LONDON

Image
I might have said we going weekly but I just could not wait until end week to share these news, and only one (actually two) words have fascinated me in just hours after hearing that the is a store Cape Town that sells this brand: BOY LONDON. The brand has been in the fashion industry for quite some time and has evolved to this BIG, edgy, fresh and punk phenominal that has taken the Youth by storm. I found out about the brand not so long ago when rihanna had an interview on Jonathan Ross Show. She had the little pleated skirt with the oversized turtle neck sweater and ofcourse the CAP. I was thrown out my comfart zone and bought the" cap" but not from the brand as they only sold thier pieces online and told myself that I will take it to the printers and get the wording "BOY" written on it. 2 days ago I was astonished to see someone from cape town wearing the brand, a t-shirt and ofcourse the cap. Apperently outside Cave
