Review: SALUTE Streetwear
So a few
weeks back I got introduced to a Street wear label by the name Salute. The
label launched about 3 months ago after a few months of preparation and executing
to the final product. I have to mention that when starting a street label it
takes guts and a lot of planning. Nowadays a lot of people launch street wear
clothing and most of them don’t succeed due to lack of knowledge, planning,
contacts and PR.
The
different thing about this label with a lot of other street wear label that I
have come to know is that they are passionate and dedicated to their craft. I
mean after 3 months of launching, they are national and have great clientele
from all over S.A even though they are based in Cape Town. SALUTE
Streetwear is an apparel line that offers a variety of clothing items. The
designs of the items are inspired by street culture and modern fashion trends.
SALUTE was founded by
Lelethu Mantsha and Pallo Mobo in June 2013. A month later, Siyabonga Mavata
and Junior Mavata joined as partners and they are living in Midrand. Their
responsibilities will be to manage operations in that part of the country when
the label expands.
The merchandise available at
present are t-shirts, crewneck sweaters, tank tops and ladies denim shorts. These
are available in sizes from extra small to triple extra large.
So
far their Milestone has been:
MuthaFM:
Had
a radio interview with Kid Cleva on his Wake & Bake show.
AfriFusion:
Got offered space on an
online store. An offer which we took. The site will be up by December 2013.
Jam That Session:
We branded Jam That Session
hosts for their August edition. Did a promotion as well on a small scale there.
Currently
they are in preparation for their debut at the Urban Jungle Designer Mash-up Fashion
Show presented Funktion. Their 2013/14 Summer range is to go the military route with regards to designs and colour
scheme, and to go with
literal association of the term salute and the army.
I am very eager to see their latest range at the Fashion
Show and will update you all with my thoughts after.
