POSE Attended: The Peace Table
The Peace Table
The Sunday, 25 May 2014, POSE attended The Peace Table event which took place at the Table Mountain. The most prestige, inspiring, charity event with one long stretch table that sat +700 people including The mayor of Cape Town - Patricia de Lille, Archbishops, designers such as David Tlale, models ( Joelle Kayembe, Cindy Neil), TV personality from top billing, Janez, comedian Siv Ngesi, radio DJ Afrika Melane and many more.
The event was a 3 course meal while biding at fabulous items to raise money for charity such as Kitchen Aid, make over vouchers, Bobbi Brown make up kits, champagne signed by any Ground Prix racer you want and more. As we sat at the table marinated by Vicky Samson voice and Internationally renowned DJ, Dino Moran, Peter Tempelhoff, an award-winning Executive Chef for The Collection by Liz McGrath, Celebrated Gourmet Chef Andrea Foulkes from Dish Food & Social and their teams were preparing our starter and main which included which included, shell fish, 3 tower of lamb, while dessert was prepared and served by Myatt Cafe & Chocolatier which included red velvet cookies and dark chocolate. Champagnes was by G.H. MUMM and Wines were served by Robertson Winery.
The event was a success as it raised more than R100. 000.00 while I still counted as the bidding commenced. Conversations engaged with people of all religions as we were treated with a fashion show by acclaimed & sought after Fashion Director Jan Malan which included all the designers that I have previewed on the previous blog-post such as David Tlale, AmaXhosa, Kluk and CGDT, Craig Port and Anisa Mpungwe.
One quote that struck to us, when the head of The Peace Table said "Put yourself out and reach to help. You don't have to help many people but one person at a time". These words really gave us a new perspective and we have decided that from now on, we will help those in need in what we can, even if it means spending one hour at an orphanage a month or donating some of our clothes to a charity store, anything goes as long as it reaches to one person.
I applaud everyone that made the event successful as I can imagine the amount of work that had to be put it in and thank you to The little Black Book for the invite.
The Peace Table event was the beginning of the Food Week and below is more information on how you can attend the Food Week and what to expect:
