The Station turns 2!

I still can't believe it's already two years since The Station opened its stores in Cape Town, located in Bree Street. A concept bar and restaurant fashioned after the iconic London Underground or Tube as it is known and has recently had an upgrade in time for the summer season.

PoseZA was invited to attend this exclusive birthday party last week Thursday and knowing our EIC, a party is never a miss. Greeted by the Arrivals platform under the leafy street trees which has also undergone changes with a newly installed deck that leads you into this unique venue.

Relocation of the main bar to the back centre of the venue has opened up a large area to accommodate additional space for dining and provides an ample area for late night dancing.

The new design allows for easy access from the restaurant area to the open roof top courtyard where you can mingle and sip drinks under the stars in close proximity to the double tiered bar. The new bar is now on two levels allowing for more customers to be served at any one time.

The talking point is without doubt the Gin Station. It’s the centre piece of the new modern bar boasting over 65 local and international gins. Customers are encouraged to customize their own drinks by building from the array of offerings including condiments to compliment their gin palette.

The original underground downstairs area has too been transformed into an exclusive luxury private first class carriage reminiscent of the 1940 carriages of England. Wood cladded walls with vintage style windows, leather booths and a library wall make this enclave the perfect private area for launches, activations, dinner or parties to celebrate any occasion. Exclusive waiters, barmen and entertainment will be provided for all exclusive bookings.

With that said, PoseZA has been a huge fan of The Station even hosting his birthday dinner in May at the restaurant. This European cafe style street dining experience makes Upper Bree the place to be this season.

New introductions to the menu include beef and chicken kebabs with freshly homemade pita bread complimented with tatziki and hummus. The new burritos are now available filled with beef, chicken or vegetarian options.

A brand new introduction of quesadillas will easily feed 3 or more and are also available with the above fillings. Their famous calamari tubes have a new offering now stuffed with cream cheese and chorizo plus all the original food items remain which have made The Station’s menu so popular.

The great news is that the Station kitchen is now open until 4am during the summer season, so winding down at the end of your night out can end with quality food before retiring.

Finally the big news is the collaboration between Station on Bree and neighbours Sotano, Sea Breeze, Orphanage and others as we welcome the Summer Bree Street Markets on each first Thursday starting in November. Upper Bree Street will be closed to traffic for a festive offering of food, drinks and entertainment.

They have also recently launched our tapas menu stand available at the Mojo Market in Seapoint.
