Orphanage opens "The Dining Room" with Chef Johann

Before 2014 ended, Pose was invited to the new initiative where Orphanage gives talented young chefs who have not yet had their own restaurants before, an opportunity to headline The Dining Room for a minimum of 12 months and the first chef to take over their kitchen is Johann Breedt. Orphanage has been one of the best spots for a nice brunch with friend and usually turning into a dinner and night out. As it was the last event for Pose for 2014, I decided to dress up for the event. One thing that I love about Orphanage is that you are allowed to dress up and have fun with your clothing, tiaras and all. So I decided to wear one of my favourite young designer, Timothy, a black stretch chiffon ball gown skirt with a back and white crop top and a leather jacket, very monochrome edge. As we arrived at Orphanage we were greeted with a glass of bubbly, G.H.Mumm, and as the socialites, models and celebrities flocked in the party started.
The second thing about Orphanage is their décor, the ambience they have is so vintage, a very intimate situation in The Dining Room whereas The Parlor is more of a cocktail/ champagne bar where you can dance all night long. The lighting is dim, giving you a very gold, sunset and cosy setting. As everyone was chatting away we were served with Mr Johann's Southern Mediterranean rustic cooking including Lamb meat balls with Romesco sauce, Pizzetta zucchini, avocado, peas & ricotta with basil and grape chutney, Charcoal grilled spicy chicken skewers, Panga (fish) fritters with spicy mayonnaise and Bruschetta with goats cheese, broad bean and mint.
Lastly, we were entertained by none other than the internationally renowned drag queen Priscilla CockTale who most of you might know her from The Rocky Horror show that night, An entertainer who knows how to start a party. As she sang and made jokes, it was a perfect time to taste their coktails which are prepared by award winning bartenders. Their cocktails are so much fun especially the Swim and Tonic which is grapefruit & camomile infused Tanqueray Gin, tonic water and a goldfish inside ( dont panic its not real).
As the evening commenced everyone moved to The Parlor where we dance the night away as Orphanage usually has some dj or a party happeing from 11pm-1am. I truly believe that you have to experience Orphanage on your own rather then hear-say. I promise you wont get disappointed. Have some lunch with friends or a double date dinner as you have to taste their menu, food ranging from R40 - R120, which means you can have a started, main and dessert for just under R200.
Orphanage Cocktail Emporium is situated at Corner Orphan & Bree Street, Cape Town, 8000 and you can follow them on Facebook ( click here ) and Twitter : @OrphanageClub and check their Website ( click here )
